Physician, Protect Thyself: The Risks of Liberal Opioid Prescribing in 2021
Description:
The treatment of pain has grown increasingly complex and fraught with medical legal danger as the US opioid crisis worsens. Opioids, which were a mainstay of treatment for all types of pain, are increasingly recognized as dangerous and abuse-liable medications and the public, legal and regulatory perceptions of liberal opioid prescribing are rapidly shifting. In this lecture, Dr. Stader describes and investigates the current medical legal environment around opioid and controlled substance prescribing. He discusses the risks that opioid prescribing poses in regards to criminal charges, malpractice cases, medical board disciplinary action and other punishments. Throughout the lecture, we discuss how to avoid medical legal pitfalls and continue to provide patients with the care that they need and deserve.
This pre-recorded webinar, by speaker Don Stader, MD, FACEP, will take an estimated 75 minutes to complete.
