How to Utilize NHSN and the AUR module for Antibiotic Stewardship Submission
During this course, you will learn about NHSN and the NHSN AUR module from the Iowa Health and Human Services HAI Team. The Stratis Health team will discuss the upcoming Flex data due dates and answer any questions you may have.

Learning Objectives
- Review NHSN Patient Safety Component enrollment, adding users and conferring rights.
- Demonstrate the Antibiotic Stewardship Practices section of the 2022 NHSN Annual Facility Survey for acute care and critical access hospitals.
- Review the benefits of the NHSN AUR Module which provides a mechanism for hospitals to track, analyze and compare antimicrobial use and resistance data.
- Outline the requirements and discuss the data elements collected for participation in the NHSN Antimicrobial Use (AU) Option.
- Identify hospital leads/champions for the AU Option.
- Describe the analysis reports and the Standardized Antimicrobial Administration Ratio (SAAR) available within the AU option.

DeeAnn is a Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) Regional Nurse Clinician with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services. She has 25 years experience as a hospital infection preventionist and has worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s NSHN for many years. DeeAnn holds certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology with the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc, is a past recipient of the Dorothy Rasley Infection Control Practitioner of the Year and was named to the “100 Great Iowa Nurses” in 2011.

Quality Reporting Specialist Stratis Health
Robyn has been with Stratis Health over 20 years. As a Rural Quality Improvement Technical Assistance team member, she has developed the Medicare Beneficiary Quality Improvement Project Quality Reporting Guide and several abstraction training videos to help those new to abstraction and reporting. She also leads Abstraction for Accuracy, an inter-rater reliability and education process to help critical access hospitals improve data collection processes and abstraction accuracy. Robyn has a degree in health information management from the College of St. Scholastica and is a certified professional in healthcare quality.
