The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to light longstanding issues with health equity and the stark disparities in health outcomes for vulnerable populations. At the same time, social unrest has highlighted the need for increased diversity, equity, and inclusion in our nation’s criminal justice, political, and education systems. The principles of diversity, equity and inclusion can and should be leveraged in the healthcare setting to create an environment that is patient-centered and provides an equal opportunity for patients to achieve their best outcome and healthcare organizations to improve their performance.

At the same time, social unrest has highlighted the need for increased diversity, equity, and inclusion in our nation’s criminal justice, political, and education systems. Chris Moreland

Chris is the Chief Diversity Officer and Managing Partner of Diversity Crew. Previously, Chris served as the Chief Diversity Officer of Vizient, a major healthcare organization. At Vizient, Chris created the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, chaired a committee of healthcare Chief Diversity Officers, was called upon to keynote as an equity and inclusion expert, and advised the CEO on all corporate diversity and inclusion matters. Chris received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy, a Master’s in Business Administration from Central Michigan University, Certificate of Inclusion and Diversity from Cornell University and a DEI Certification from Diversity Crew Institute.

 

Kellie Goodson, MS, CPXP

Kellie is a thought leader in the areas of health equity and person/patient and family engagement (PFE) in health care quality and safety improvement. She has worked with multiple health systems to improve patient outcomes using the lens of health disparities identification and resolution paired with the tenets of quality improvement. She has led a multi-year analysis of hospitals leveraging and deploying PFE in quality and safety improvement that demonstrated a correlation between implementation of PFE and improvements in patient outcomes, specifically lower rates of 30- day readmissions and falls with injury. Kellie received her Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of New Hampshire and her Master of Science in Integrated Health Care Management from Western Governors University. She is also a Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP).

No continuing education is provided for this course. The user will receive a certificate of completion upon completing the course.
