Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation: Promoting Health Equity in the Mississippi Delta
Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation (BMHCC) is a not-for-profit, twenty-four hospital system spanning across Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. BMHCC has over 5,400 physicians and 19,000 employees. Dr. Harvey Mason, Amanda Comer and Rachel George will be sharing efforts of their System Health Equity Advisory Council and Delta Disparities Committee to promote positive health outcomes for patients in the Mississippi Delta.

Harvey F. Mason, M.D., Chief Quality Officer, Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation
A Mississippi native, Dr. Mason graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical School and completed his general surgery residency training at Vanderbilt Medical Center. He has worked as a general surgeon for more than twenty years and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Amanda Comer, DNP, System Director – Advanced Practice Providers
Dr. Amanda Comer has two decades of experience as an emergency nurse practitioner, and having lived and worked in Mississippi, she has gained unique insights into the challenges that Delta residents encounter. Dr. Comer received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Augusta University, following a Master of Science of Nursing from Vanderbilt University.
Rachel George, B.S., Research Coordinator, Delta Health Disparities Group at Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation
Rachel George is a research coordinator for the Delta Health Disparities Group at Baptist. Rachel graduated with a degree in biomedical engineering and for two years worked as an intramural research fellow at the National Institute of Health. She aims to help increase Baptist's research efforts on health disparities.
