Motivational Interviewing

Providers often struggle with how best to start or continue a conversation on alternative options with patients that have an opioid use disorder or are requesting opioids for an upcoming procedure or service. Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, goal setting approach that is guided using some key communication approaches. It is successfully used by many clinical and social work professionals to activate and support a person into changing behavior.
