Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists Antimicrobial Stewardship Certificate Training Program Overview

The Iowa Healthcare Collaborative, through grant funding from the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, will be offering pharmacists at Iowa Flex participating hospitals the opportunity to apply for a spot in the upcoming Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists’ (SIDP) Antimicrobial Stewardship Certificate Training Program. The program is an innovative practice-based activity focusing on the pharmacist’s role in the appropriate use of antimicrobial agents which emphasizes a healthcare team approach, seeks to foster the development of a strong knowledge base in microbiology, pharmacology and fundamentals of successful antimicrobial stewardship programs. The program includes core content applicable to any practice setting. Additional resources are provided to guide participants on implementation of antimicrobial stewardship initiatives in various practice areas focusing on unique challenges and characteristics relevant to the setting (e.g., academic medical center, community hospital, emergency and urgent care, ambulatory care).

Funding for this course was provided by the Health Resources Services Administration, Rural Hospital Flexibility Program (Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) 93.241).
