The Hospital Consumer Assessment for Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) is a national, standardized, publicly reported survey of patients’ perspectives of hospital care that allows valid comparisons to be made across hospitals locally, regionally and nationally. 

Achieving health equity by reducing and eliminating health disparities is an important overarching goal for federal and private payers alike; therefore, hospitals and healthcare organizations must implement practices that support this goal.

Active and productive patient and family advisory councils (PFACs) offer a forum for hospitals to obtain ideas, input, and insights to guide quality improvement efforts. PFAC members bring their experience in partnering with healthcare professionals and sharing their unique perspectives.
